KLM Royal Dutch Airlines


The airline company KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is based in Netherlands and all its flights are operated to and from or via the Schiphol airport in Amsterdam. In 2004 KLM was merged with the airline Air France, which was the largest aviation corporation up to that date. KLM nowadays serves over 250 destinations in 15 different countries. 123 of those destinations are served with flights that are operated by other members of the airline alliance Sky Team. The fleet of KLM consists of 203 airplanes that are regularly checked and meet all safety standards and regulations.
From the Netherlands, all flights are operated from the airports of Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Eindhoven and Maastricht/ Aachen.

KLM Baggage Rules

  • The baggage rules for KLM and Air France change in 28 March 2010. Only the piece concept will be used for all tickets instead of destination concept.
  • Passengers can check in up to 3 bags free of charge weighing up to 23kg and 158 cm (all dimensions included) each depending on the cabin class. 1 piece for Economy Class, 2 pieces for Premium, 3 pieces for World Business Affaires and la Premiere.
  • Flying Blue members of KLM will be able to check in an additional bag of up to 23kg, whatever their travel class.
  • In case that the baggage allowance is exceeded (more than 23 kg and less than 32 kg), the passengers from Europe have to pay €100 and 100 USD from elsewhere. If passengers carry an entire second baggage in Voyageur and Economy cabins, they have to pay €55 from Europe and 55 USD elsewhere, whereas in other cabins €200 from Europe, 200 USD elsewhere. 20% discount excess baggage is offered for customers who check in online

KLM Services

  • Check-in: All passengers of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines can ckeck-in electronically too. More specifically, via KLM's website and by using the number of the electronic tickets or the reservation code of KLM, one can complete the check-in procedure online. The online check-in begins 30h prior the scheduled flight departure and stops 1h before the departure of the flight.
  • The Frequent Flyer Program Flying Blue of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has four levels (Ivory, Silver, Gold, Platinum), each one of which offers exceptional privileges and special treatment for passengers of KLM and its partners.
  • Regarding pet transportation in KLM flights, only small cats and dogs up to 6 kg can travel into the cabin in a hard shell kennel up to 20 cm high or in an animal travel bag up to 115 cm and they can be put under the seat in front of the passenger.
